ERRORS IN ONCOLOGIC RADIOLOGY: UNDERSTANDING THEM TO PREVENT THEM

Learning Objectives: Encourage radiologists to recognize, analyze, and prevent diagnostic errors in oncologic radiology as a whole, promoting safer and more efficient practice. Course Description: Oncologic radiology is one of the most complex and challenging fields in diagnostic medicine. Small interpretative errors can have a significant impact on staging, treatment, and patient prognosis. This course was designed to help radiologists improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce the occurrence of errors. Topics will range from fundamental concepts of diagnostic errors to the practical analysis of real-life cases. Major errors will be discussed by system—thorax, abdomen, pelvis, central nervous system, and musculoskeletal system—as well as cross-cutting topics such as artificial intelligence applied to error detection, cognitive bias, effective communication, and safety culture. Case discussions will be interactive, featuring real-world errors and how they could have been avoided.

DESMISTIFICANDO A ENDOMETRIOSE DO COMPARTIMENTO LATERAL DA PELVE

Learning Objectives: Present the anatomy of the lateral pelvic compartment to radiologists in a simple and clear manner, detailing vessels, nerves, and the ureter. Prepare radiologists to evaluate endometriosis in this compartment using both ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. Describe the optimal imaging protocols for assessment with ultrasound and MRI. Present the surgeon’s anatomical and surgical perspective and outline what is required in the radiology report. Course Description: This course aims to present the anatomy of the lateral pelvic compartment in a clear and didactic way, with emphasis on identifying the main anatomical structures—vessels, nerves, and the ureter. The goal is to train radiologists to evaluate endometriosis in this compartment using both ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, integrating technical, anatomical, and clinical aspects. Throughout the course, ideal imaging protocols will be detailed, focusing on exam standardization and improved diagnostic accuracy. The surgeon’s perspective will also be addressed, highlighting what surgeons expect to find described in the radiology report and how this communication directly impacts surgical planning and outcomes.

PET-CT IN NEUROLOGY: WHAT RADIOLOGISTS AND NUCLEAR MEDICINE PHYSICIANS NEED TO KNOW

Learning Objectives: Understand, interpret, and recognize imaging patterns obtained from hybrid imaging methods associated with each neurodegenerative disease using PET-CT, PET-MRI, and SPECT-CT. Course Description: This course aims to train radiologists and molecular imaging specialists to understand and apply the main biomarkers used in the investigation of neurodegenerative diseases, with emphasis on PET/CT and SPECT techniques. The program integrates pathophysiological foundations, imaging features, and technological advances that support early diagnosis, staging, and follow-up of these diseases.

RADIOLOGIC ANATOMY APPLIED TO HYBRID IMAGING (PET/CT, PET/MRI, SPECT/CT)

Learning Objectives: Understand the main anatomical and functional information described in hybrid imaging examinations, recognizing radiologic anatomy on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, as well as anatomical variations and physiological changes. The course aims to train participants to identify normal and pathological structures in the neurologic, thoracic, abdominal, and pelvic regions—including aspects related to radiotracer distribution and excretion—thereby enhancing interpretation of findings and anatomical–functional correlation in PET/CT, PET/MRI, and SPECT/CT.
