IMAGING EVALUATION OF THE PLACENTA
Learning Objectives: This course aims to train and enhance knowledge in ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging for placental evaluation. By the end of the course, participants will be able to: Recognize the normal placental appearance on ultrasound and MRI. Understand MRI protocols tailored for placental assessment. Become familiar with structured reporting, with emphasis on placental evaluation by MRI. Understand the concepts and imaging findings of the main placental disorders (placenta accreta spectrum, placenta previa, placental abruption, and gestational trophoblastic disease) and their practical implications. Target Audience: Radiologists and residents in radiology and diagnostic imaging. Course Description: This course focuses on imaging evaluation of the placenta using ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. Theoretical lectures will be provided covering the main aspects of placental assessment, including MRI protocols, structured reporting, normal findings on ultrasound and MRI, and interpretation and diagnosis of the major placental disorders. To consolidate learning, imaging studies will be made available on a DICOM platform for pre-analysis and subsequent live discussion, in addition to supporting theoretical material (syllabus) for reference.
